About me Owners of Phoneco,Inc.--Old Telephones
January 1971 – 2012 (over 39 yrs)

Phoneco, Inc, a vintage phone business. Ron, a collector of antiques since childhood, bought 8 wooden phones that we sold quickly. That lead to purchasing more phones, including magneto, dial, nondial phones & payphones. A demand for parts lead to making reproductions. In 1973, Ron retired from teaching & Phoneco began. Ron concentrates on part of the work in a barn at our nearby farm, while Mary heads up the order and supply business downtown Galesville along with about 12 employees, who's work includes painting, polishing, rewiring, repairing, shipping and office.
We have restored and repaired phones for thousands of grateful customers. Our employees enjoy seeing shabby old phones become objects of pride. We offer a full line of parts (cords, mouthpieces, networks, bells, housing, etc.) for phone repair. We belong to 2 Telephone Collectors Clubs. We are proud to provide phones to many television, stage, and screen production services. Coming soon, our phones can be seen in the movies, such as, Edgar Hoover, First Class, and Magic City. Past movies include, The Good German, The Good Shepherd, Seabiscuit, Starsky & Hutch, American Gangster, All the Kings Men, Chicago, From the Earth to the Moon, Jumangi, Bridges of Madison Co, JFK, Jingle All the Way, True West, & many others. Also our phones appear in local plays and productions such as My Fair Lady, Bye Bye Birdie, Cabaret, Man Over Board, and several TV shows like Playboy, Saturday Night Live, Mad Men, & 30 Rock. Chances are, when period phones are used in any production, they come from Phoneco. In 1996 we had the distinction of participating in the 19th International Telecommunications Union Conference in Switzerland. Our old phones were a part of the huge demonstration of the communication industry.
Ron has written several books on the History and Identification of Old Telephones, including a recent one on PayPhone History. Catalog, Tours, Museum
We restore and sell older telephones. Send us yours to polish, paint and wire to use on todya's lines.
